Women’s Veterans Day June 2018

The National Association of American Veterans (NAAV) Inc., would like to announce a historic event taking place in Austin, Texas on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. This event is intended to “recognize women veterans of Texas.”

This year marks the 70th year acknowledging women in military service. Although as history would show, women has supported military service for longer that than, but this June highlights the 70th “official year of Texas women veterans.

As a historical tribute, on June 12, 1948, a bill was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman known as the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, which officially allowed women to serve freely as regular service members.

Consider ways to support women veterans this summary, there are a variety of opportunities and simple gestures to show your appreciation and honor. Following are a few suggestions:

  • Post pictures of women veterans throughout your office bill boards
  • Coordinate and/or organize a trip to a local women’s veteran’s event
  • Write a tribute to a woman veteran or to share with a group of women veterans
  • Host a tea, brunch or lunch or women veterans in your family, friends, or work place and let them share their stories
