“The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and life” (John 6:63). The Lord also said that heaven and earth shall pass away, but His words shall not pass away. There is more to learn from our Lord Jesus Christ Speaks about compassion, rewards, his cross, the good news, and discipleship. We pray that these Scripture verses will give you comfort and hope as your reflect upon the words and promises of God.
About Compassion
When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, “Do not weep.” Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.” So, he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented to him his mother.” (Luke 7:13-15)
“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:11)
About Discipleship
“Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.’” (John 8:31-21)
“If anyone come to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. ” (Luke 14:26-17,33)
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
The Lord Speaks From The Cross
“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
“And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.’” (Luke 23:43)
“When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, ‘Woman, be hold our son!’ Then He said to the disciple, ‘Behold your mother!’ And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.’” (John 19:26-27)
“Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’” (Matthew 27:46)
“After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, ‘I thirst!’ Now a vessel full of sour vine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So, when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.’” (John 19:28-30)
“And when Jesus had cried out with al loud voice, He said, ‘Father, into Your Hands I commit My spirit.’ Having said this, He breathed His last.’” (Luke 23:46)
About Speaking the Good News
“And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.’”
(Matthew 28:18-20)
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
“If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.” (John 14:15-16)
