It is a pleasure to announce the National Association of American Veterans, Inc. of the Greater Washington Capital Region will partner with Helping Hands Adult Day Services in support of our nation’s veterans and their family members most in need residing in Washington, D.C. and Maryland metro area in 2023 and beyond.
All too often, disabled and homeless veterans and their family members do not get any extra financial help during their recovery period. Many do not get service-connected disability payments, or their medical care covered. Retired Veterans suffer from income lost due to the nature of their injuries. Usually, Veterans will apply to non-profit organizations such as NAAV to help them to be able to stay at the military hospitals, to get assistance for food, clothes for their children, travel home and back, and family household needs such as rental, utility and telephone bills. Most often it is a very difficult and sad time for the family, managing medical problems along with mounting financial household difficulties.
Helping Hands Adult Day Services provides health monitoring, medication management, assistance in activities of daily living, nutritious meals, socialization that promotes lasting friendships, daily exercises, and stimulating activities; tailored to meet their needs or participant centered goals. HHADS also offer transportation to and from the facility and occasional community trips. The pandemic has affected many of our nation’s veterans and their family members in how you live and maneuver within this society.
