Since 2005 the NAAV has provided support for severely injured service members, disabled Veterans, and their family members. NAAV offers avenues for service members, military caregivers, combat Veterans, and their families to address the issues they face while in recovery and transition to life after their injuries and while seeking employment in a workforce outside the military.

By offering educational, financial resources, housing, employment, post-traumatic stress counseling referrals, and assistance to service members, Veterans, and their spouses, NAAV assures our constituents that they will receive the most current information on where to find emergency financial resources and legal, housing, and employment assistance, and receive the support they need during their job and housing searches. NAAV will work to bring together military job seekers and military-friendly employers to place them in meaningful employment and entrepreneurial business ventures.
Military Caregiver Support and Assistance

In 2008 NAAV provided the outline and text for the Quick Series Guide to Healthy Caregiving published by Quick Series and based on NAAV’s president and chief executive officer Constance A. Burns’s caregiving experience and work with military caregivers and the President’s Commission on Care of America’s Returning Wounded Warriors in 2007.

NAAV provided free copies of the Guide to Healthy Caregiving to military caregivers attending NAAV’s BBQ along with literature about relationship building, coping with changes in family dynamics, spiritual wellness, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress, depression, physical fitness booklets, and the most effective information about caregiver-specific resources and educational materials from NAAV. NAAV presented over 14 complimentary gift certificates for weekend resort and hotel stay, spa gift card, and other interesting free getaways. Additionally, NAAV provided information about Veterans’ claims and benefits, and SafeLink wireless phone applications for Wounded Warriors and their family members.
