Operation Gratitude seeks a charismatic and motivated leader with military experience, or a strong affiliation to the military, to be its next Chief Executive Officer. Operation Gratitude annually assembles 200,000+ customized care packages filled with an assortment of goods and personal letters of appreciation. These packages are sent to Veterans, First Responders, New Recruits, Gold Star families, Wounded Heroes, their Care Givers, and to individually named U.S. service members deployed overseas and to their families waiting at home. Following the tragic events of 9/11, Founder and CEO Carolyn Blashek felt a strong desire to thank deployed service members. She started putting together care packages for men and women serving overseas and quickly expanded the operation to welcome supporters nationwide. Since the organization?s founding in 2003, Operation Gratitude?s 350,000+ volunteers and donors have shipped more than 1.75 Million Care Packages. The 2 Millionth Care Package will be assembled on December 9, 2017. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for leading and advancing the organization?s vision, strategic initiatives and priorities. With an expectation of continued growth, the CEO will initially oversee a staff of 15 and an annual budget of $3+ million cash and approximately $8+ million of in-kind gifts and services. The successful candidate will passionately embrace the mission and values of Operation Gratitude and convey sincere compassion for Military and First Responder families. The ideal candidate will have a meaningful connection to the ?service? community and have a compelling personal narrative. The CEO should be a big picture, visionary leader with a demonstrated capacity to be engaged in institution building. The successful candidate must have excellent public speaking and written communication skills and be an articulate and persuasive leader with the ability to serve as a national spokesperson and representative of Operation Gratitude to its various constituencies. The CEO will exude a spirit of volunteerism, and understand and appreciate the critical role that volunteers play in the organization. Travel for outreach and publicity will be expected. Operation Gratitude encourages individuals with military leadership experience and/or affiliation to apply. A Bachelor?s degree is required; relevant advanced degrees are desirable.
