The East Coast Chapter (ECCTAI) is the greater Washington, DC metropolitan
area chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. TAI is a national organization
dedicated to preserving the legacy of the original Tuskegee Airmen and other
African American aviation pioneers and to motivating and inspiring young
people to enter into aviation and aeronautical careers. About 200 people
belong to ECCTAI: active duty and retired military, Tuskegee Airmen family
members and friends, as well as other individuals who support TAI goals.
Several chapter are original Tuskegee Airmen, individuals who received their
training at Tuskegee Army Air Field or related military installations. A few
chapter members are World War II combat veterans; others are veterans of
other conflicts.
ECCTAI is involved in many activities including:
Monthly meetings (second Saturday on every month except August at Noon) at
the College Park Airport Operations Bldg. – 1909 Corporal Frank Scott Drive-
College Park, MD 20740
Presentations on the Tuskegee Airmen to schools, churches, civic groups and
other organizations
Youth in Aviation Program that engages 15-19 years old in aviation history
and learning to fly
Education Assistance for college students
Armed Forces Air Show at Andrews Air Force Base
Membership dues are $100 per year for civilians or $65 for active duty
enlisted military personnel.
