On Saturday, September 10, 2016, the National Association of American Veterans, Inc. (NAAV) along with sponsors, community partners and volunteers, participated in the DC VA Medical Center’s Welcome Home Veterans “A Salute to Service” at the 40th Anniversary of the Maryland Renaissance Festival held in Annapolis, Maryland.
Since 2006 the NAAV has provided support for disabled Veterans and their family members at the DC VA Medical Center giving assistance with Veterans’ claims and benefits, respite care for military caregivers, legal, housing and employment assistance to those most in need. NAAV offers resources and referrals for military caregivers, severely injured service members, disabled Veterans, and their family members to address their concerns while in recovery and transition to life after traumatic injuries and while seeking employment after military service.
Over 600 attendees came to support the DC VA Medical Welcome Home to Veterans “A Salute to Service” and Maryland Renaissance Festival; 575 ticket giveaways and 175 Veterans and service members attended received free meal and entry tickets at the event. Partnering agencies and organizations gave free literature and other resources at their display tables during the event.
Partnering agencies, private organizations, volunteers and the DC VA Medical Center workforce crew included the DC VAMC Leadership, VA TCM Transition and Care Management Program, Voluntary Service, Mr. Lesane of EMS; DC VA Public Affairs, IT; American Red Cross, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of the United States, Washington, DC; Active Duty Service Members, to name a few.
The NAAV team is standing by awaiting questioning guest and veteran participants underneath the tent at the recent Renaissance Festival Welcome Home to Veteran’s event in Annapolis, MD. The sun and temperature were just right for a great turn out at this event.
NAAV stands ready to receive all the many guest who attended the Welcome Home to Veterans Event at the Renaissance Fest. The NAAV table was filled with literature and brochures about veteran benefits, resources, and many other facts regarding NAAV its support and mission to our Nation’s veteran. During the Welcome Home to Veterans Event NAAV received a Certificate of Appreciation from the DC VA Medical Center Director in grateful recognition for generous donation and partnership and for commitment to Veterans, service members and unwavering support for the mission and vision of the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center presented by Elsie Moore, LICSW, Program Manager, VA TCM Transition and Care Management Program to Constance A. Burns, President and CEO of the National Association of American Veterans, Inc.
