Greetings Military and Veteran Leaders, Military Spouses, Stakeholders, and Friends,
As Veterans Day is a time that we recognize Veterans for their Service to this Country, Interagency Veterans wants to thank each of you for your _continued Service_ to the American People.
The nearly 100 Departments and Agencies that comprise Interagency Veterans proudly support the recruitment, acclimation, retention, and promotion of Veterans, Reservists, National Guard Personnel, and Military Spouses in the federal civilian workforce. Collectively, Interagency Veterans’ membership represents the interests of over 500,000 federal civilian employees who are Veterans across the government.
This year, we are releasing our first annual report – _The State of Veterans in the Federal _Workforce – that covers the activities, best practices, and recommendations to improve the lives of Veterans within the federal workplace. This year we highlight influential work in the employee resource group space from around government, including some major milestones from agencies with well-developed Veterans’ groups. We also share details on the administrative maturation of Interagency Veterans, which included the development of new Officer Positions and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders in the community – including the First Lady’s Joining Forces initiative and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
“Our goal is to _Serve Those Who Serve_, and this report captures a snapshot of what life looks like for Veterans, Reservists, National Guard Personnel, and Military Spouses in federal employment.” said Lloyd Calderón, Chair of Interagency Veterans. “Looking at the data was essential for better understanding the Veteran employment landscape this year, and helped us increase our understanding of issues that Veterans face within the federal workspace… and better advise federal agencies.” said Ryan Arbuckle, Chief Data Officer for Interagency Veterans.
The report is attached and will be posted on OPM’s website, www.FedsHireVets.gov [1], shortly. Please share or forward with your Agencies’ membership as appropriate.
In continued Service to You,
Your Interagency Veterans Advisory Council Officers:
