The Word of God brings comfort and hope in time of distress and disaster. Psalm 46:1-2 says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.” Psalm 121:1 says, “The LORD shall preserve you from all evil and He shall preserve your soul.” Whatever your current circumstances, take a few minutes praying and reading God’s Word of comfort and hope from the Holy Bible. Where are you putting your hope? Is it in your friends? Your career or your investments?
The Holy Bible has many scripture verses about God’s comfort and hope during times of distress and disaster. The Lord God knows that life on earth is not easy and that humans live in a difficult and twisted world where people can do harmful things to each other. And we all may learn at some point in life that more than often things do not work out very well.
Amid this sinful world we live in, we have a compassionate and loving heavenly Father who loved us so much that He gave His only begotten Son that we might have a right to eternal life through His death, burial and resurrection on calvary cross. God’s plan of salvation in found in the Gospel of John and describes the depths of God’s love for you. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) No one can offer what the Lord Jesus Christ offers on calvary cross.
The Lord Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) came to live among us, and He knows what it is like to face life. He knows what it is like to face death and gain victory.
When we live in His power won on calvary cross we can face many circumstances related to hope in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
The LORD God offers us a future: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and fine Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
The LORD God offers us peace: “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
