November–December 2017

The National Association of American Veterans, Inc. and the PA AVE Village East sponsored a trip for a group of 25 people to travel to Sight and Sound Theatres in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, November 7, 2017. The attendees were transported to this event by the Chariot for Hire Motor Coach. It was a spectacular show and event. Those who traveled experienced an exciting and fun-filled day, which was topped off with a lunch and a trip to the Lancaster Outlets.
NAAV shares one of the testimonies, from Rev. Dr. Lucy Der-Garabedian of Springfield, Virginia.
Constance,
Thanks for a wonderful day of respite in PA, we tremendously enjoyed the musical, food, bus ride, and the company. Thanks a million!

In November 2017 NAAV assisted with obtaining a used, donated car for 93-year-old World War II Veteran Adeline Bouchard from Kayser Ford, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin. Adeline responds with the message below:

WOW, MS. CONSTANCE:

YOU ARE SOME LADY. AN OVER ACHIEVER. HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO GET SO MANY
THINGS DONE IN 24 HOURS. WHEN DO YOU GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO SLEEP,
NOT TO MENTION HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO EAT.

YOU MUST HAVE BEEN BLESSED AT AN EARLY AGE TO HAVE SUCH A WARM, KIND
AND LOVING NOT TO MENTION FORGIVING HEART. I CAN JUST SEE YOU, ON YOUR
KNEES, TALKING TO THE LORD.

IT IS MORE THAN CLEAR, THAT THE LORD SET YOUR FEET ON THIS PATH AND YOU
HAVE AN OBEDIENT HEART. GOD BLESS YOU, AND MAY HE KEEP YOU SAFE IN HIS
ARMS.

I AM SO THANKFUL THAT I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE IN CONTACT.

I KNOW YOU ARE WORKING DILIGENTLY WITH FOR MY BENEFIT AND
ONCE AGAIN MAY I THANK YOU.

HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.

ADDIE BOUCHARD

During November NAAV was also instrumental in assisting a Veteran family member with securing the delivery and installation of an electric/motorized stair lifter chair in the home of Alva Bryan, widow of deceased World War II Veteran, residing in East Orange, New Jersey. NAAV made and paid for all the arrangements with the company in New Jersey. In addition, NAAV paid for home repairs for the winter months in 2018.
Thank you so much for all your help with this. You are a Blessing ❤.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely
Jodi Fitzgerald

NAAV assists with claims and benefits request, and one grateful recipient returns with a message of gratitude:
Good Morning. How are you doing? I’m doing fine. I wanted to follow-up with you on my C&P Disability case. I came to the DC VA and talked to Mr. Curtis from the DAV (he works in your office on Tuesdays). He was very kind and professional. He helped me with the paperwork and submitted my claim for 100%. I’m waiting to hear a decision soon. I haven’t forgot about your organization NAAV. I’ve been spreading the word! I also placed a link to the NAAV website on all emails I send out. I will be making a donation around the 1st week of December. Thank you for your help and advice on processing my C&P Disability case. I really appreciated your help. Have a wonderful and plentiful holiday season, and I will talk to you later. Enjoy your day!
Respectfully,
Sarita Hayes
Executive Assistant

NAAV received a second note in December as a result of its support in securing Alva Bryan’s stair lifter chair:

I am so thankful for Constance organizing everything for the chair stair climber. It IS an ANSWER to PRAYER that at the time I called, she knew someone that was in great need of one! My Son currently serves as a lieutenant and my Uncle is an Army Veteran! We are Thankful for all who serve and the sacrifices they make and for people like Constance who work diligently to help others in need!

Thank you for being a Blessing to others and I will spread the word for donating to our Heroes!

Sincerely,
Jodi Fitzgerald

December Testimonies
“’Tis the season to be jolly,” so it’s been said on many occasions, especially this time of the year, the winter holiday and Christmas season. NAAV has a lot to jolly about, because our organization is rewarded by the positive feedback we receive from the resources and donations we are able to share with American Veterans and their family members seeking assistance.
Although the needs are real on a continuous basis throughout the year, NAAV is thrilled to receive messages from people (Veterans) and families whom we have been able to support and have made a difference. Similarly, the testimonies below are like packaged gifts sent to NAAV, and we truly appreciate knowing that kindness begets kindness, and sharing our many gifts from and to others creates gratitude:

Great job Constance—thank God for YOU and your Leadership to keep us
all afloat with God’s Grace!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one of the finest woman I have
ever known!

Love,
Julie⛄🎅

Additional Veteran families that NAAV was able to assist over the past two months are recognized below. Thank you all for your continued support to NAAV, because without you we would not have been able to provide to those who contacted us for benefits and a variety of other resources:
Cynthia Holland of New Jersey received monetary funds for emergency assistance (food).

Augusto Willard, homeless Veteran in Homestead, Florida, received legal, claims, and benefits assistance, and transportation funds since last year. He may have gone back to Mexico to stay with friends since the hurricane in Florida.
Veteran Dwayne Summage of Little Rock, Arkansas, received emergency assistance from NAAV scheduled to arrive right before Christmas.

Alva M. Bryan, widow of a World War II Veteran in East Orange, New Jersey, received
through sponsors a Bruno Electric Stair Chair, monetary funds paid toward this chair, and additional donations for winter home repairs.

William Craig and Cyndi Gardner, disabled Gulf War Veteran of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and their two children were helped from becoming homeless, with a paid housing deposit, moving expenses, and first month’s rent. They were also provided assistance in getting their VA HUD VASH Voucher over three months behind paid.

Adeline Bouchard, World War II Veteran, age 93, of Wisconsin, received NAAV assistance in obtaining a donated car since last November and into December 2017.

NAAV provided support through its role and partnership with the DC VA Medical Center
Team at the Transition and Care Management (TCM) Center in Washington, D.C. NAAV received a note of gratitude in return:
Good afternoon,

In case I missed seeing you or you are no longer connected with the Transition and Care Management (TCM) Center, I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all that you do. This has been a challenging year, but each of you made it better for our Veterans. Thank you for your commitment and for your wonderful partnership in the TCM Center.

We wish you and your families a very happy holiday season.

Elsie Moore, LICSW
